A beautifully renovated city centre hotel oozing history and glamour in the heart of Florence

Following a 6-month closure for refurbishment, the Hotel Savoy has reopened with a fabulous new look which perfectly blends its traditional history with a fresh redesign by Olga Polizzi and the design team behind the fashion house of Emilio Pucci in the lobby area. The reboot has also meant downsizing the number of bedrooms – from 102 to 80 – allowing the hotel to reconfigure four beautiful Grand View suites.

Location

Hotel Savoy is located in the very heart of Florence on Piazza della Repubblica. It is perfectly positioned for all the key highlights of the city and can be found halfway between the Uffizi Gallery and the Duomo.

Accommodation

The hotel’s 80 rooms have been recently redesigned by Olga Polizzi and now showcases contemporary Italian style whilst retaining their beautiful traditional features such as parquet floors, marble bathrooms and mosaics.

Rooms range from Classic Doubles which have views of the historic centre of Florence, traditional parquet floors and marble bathrooms stocked with Forte Organics toiletries, to Deluxe Rooms which have king-sized beds and stylish sitting areas with bookshelves filled with classic novels. These rooms have great views over the streets of Florence or the Piazza della Repubblica and marble bathrooms.

The newly-created Repubblica Suite is 70sqm in size and features a mixture of antique furniture and modern art. Located on the second floor of the building, it has three balconies with spectacular views of the Piazza della Repubblica, a large sitting room and direct views of the Piazza from the master bedroom. A king-sized bed, Italian silk sheets and a Carrara marble and mosaic bathroom with separate shower, bathtub and double washbasins completes the suite.

The Grand View Suite has a large sitting room and separate dining room which make the most of the splendid views over the Piazza della Repubblica. Designed by Olga Polizzi and filled with Florentine antiques and featuring a large classical statue, you’ll feel the history of Florence from the moment you enter the suite. In addition to the main marble bathroom the suite also has a guest lavatory.

Extras for guests staying in suites:

In addition to the customary high levels of care and attention you will receive at the hotel, guests of suites also benefit from a one-way airport transfer, champagne and fruit on arrival, valet unpacking and packing, full buffet breakfast in your suite, full in-room bar and a dedicated concierge service. Also included is a personalised experience of your choice which could be a private visit to the Uffizi Gallery, a wine tasting session at the hotel’s restaurant or a private guided tour of the Duomo – the choice is yours.

Dining

Diners will be spoilt at the hotel’s restaurant, Irene. The menu is inspired by local and seasonal produce and produces fantastic Tuscan classics designed by Fulvio Pierangelini (who has two Michelin stars at his other restaurant). Secondi courses to whet your appetite include Tuscan cockerel breast, asparagus, morels and pine forest truffle, or John Dory with olive oil mashed potatoes and sautéed artichokes. For a pre-dinner cocktail, head to the hotel’s cocktail bar where champagne is served in original 1950s coupe glasses and a signature cocktail menu list is influenced by some of Italy’s best cities.
