With only 30 Suites and Villas, The Sanchaya is a piece of boutique heaven on a powder sand beach that lets you escape from the world for a weekend or much longer.

The resorts owners wanted to create a retreat that was homely but also offered top class service and a luxurious feel and they have certainly achieved that. The library area and bar exude European Colonial charm of the 18th and 19th centuries, with Chesterfields and parque flooring, telescopes and other interesting artefacts collected by the owner over the years.

“Decanter”, a chilled wine and cheese room, dedicated to the art of marrying cheese to the right wine, is totally unique in the region and again demonstrates this resort is a cut above most.

The Suites and Villas have a simlar style throughtout, apart from the Thai style villas around the lagoon.

All are extremely well appointed, very spacious (Suites start at c. 80m2) and a country house feel.

Exploring

Bintan island offers a tranquil retreat for relaxation but if one wants a little more action, there are water-sports to keep you amused and diving. You can also take an ultra-light seaplane flight over the bay, explore the mangroves nearby, take a bicycle tour, hike the nearby hills or take a cruise on the Sebung river.
