What's Hot For 2021? New York | Africa | Ibiza | Japan
After a year of staying put, 2021 is set to be a year for some of the most exciting hotel and resort openings across the world. We’ve picked just a few destinations that we’re most excited about – from the stunning Afro-chic of the Kruger Shalati – Train on a Bridge, to the contemporary take on Japanese minimalism at Azumi Setoda, from Indian Ocean luxe much closer to home at Six Senses Ibiza, to next level New York style at Aman’s newest hotel. And an already established, but highly exclusive hidden gem, Twsalu Kalahari for the ultimate African safari experience.
With many holidays rolling over from last year, hotels for the summer are already getting full, especially in Europe. If you want to get away this year and have the best possible choice of destination and accommodation, we strongly advise you to get in touch. Please do not leave your booking to later in the year, now is the time to make your plans.
We offer fully flexible terms with no risk of you losing any deposit if you are unable to travel, for any reason. Sign up to our weekly newsletter (at the bottom left of this page) for updates on new destinations and other key information.
Please feel free to call us on 01491 575987 or email info@savilerowtravel.co.uk. We are open for phone, email and video call enquiries, where we can share ideas to make your 2021 holiday truly special.
A brand new Afro-chic boutique hotel experience offering views over the Sabie River and wider Kruger National Park, this 1950s Afrocentric luxury steam train will be a permanent feature on the historic Selati Bridge.
Kruger Shalati – Train on a Bridge turns everything you might expect from an African safari on it’s head and brings a completely new experience. The boutique hotel has 24 stunning rooms and expert guides take guests on stunning game drive cross the park. From the cabins guests will be in position to view crocodiles, hippo, buffalo and elephants all from the comfort of their bed or on bridge swimming pool!
Tswalu is a private reserve in the Kalahari. Exclusive to only 30 guests at a time and the largest private game reserve in South Africa, Tswalu provides its visitors with a unique safari experience. Led by some of the best guides in the whole of Africa, the reserve is home to species including the rare Black Maned Lion, Pangolin and the elusive Aardvark.
For the ultimate safari adventure, take a helicopter ride over the Okavango Delta, among the world’s premier wilderness areas. The reserve offers a variety of incredible accommodation set over the Mostse and Tarkuni sites. Tswalu is ideal for families or couples alike, who want to experience one of the hidden gems of African safari.
Due to open in March 2021, the Azumi Setoda is MD Giles Hoff’s favourite new arrival of 2021. It promises to be a contemporary take on the traditional Japanese ryokan. Set on Ikuchi-jima island in Japan’s Seto Inland Sea, this stunning new hotel has a homey, peaceful aesthetic, a world away from glitz and glamour, but with the quiet authenticity that any seasoned traveller would expect to find in Japan. A few days here would make for the ideal antidote to the hustle and bustle of Tokyo sightseeing.
This is a wonderful base from which to explore the island and its neighbours. Located at the mid point of the Shimanami Kaido bike route, it is a delight for hikers and cyclists with plenty of trails to keep you active. Foodies will love the cuisine, including seafood feasts and locally produced citrus, herbs and spices, all of which reflect Ikuchi-jima’s position on the ancient Maritime Silk Road.
SRT director Matt Callaway is a huge fan of the white isle and of Six Senses resorts in general, which makes the imminent 2021 opening of Six Senses Ibiza particularly exciting. Matt says he’s really looking forward to these this combination for easy short haul luxury breaks, guaranteed to deliver the very best in rest and relaxation during the European summer months.
Located in the stunning and much quieter northern coast of the island, the Six Senses Ibiza overlooks Xarraca Bay, one of the best remote beaches on the island and the perfect base from which to explore the rest of Ibiza.
Hands down the Aman New York is the hotel that our North America specialist Louise Lupton is most excited about. While New York is choc-full of stupendous luxury hotels, Louise can’t wait to see how Aman will put their stamp on The Big Apple.
Set to open in spring this year and centrally located on 5th Avenue in the iconic Crown building, the original setting for the Museum of Modern Art, this hotel is going to take the New York City luxury offerings to the next level. Louise is already dreaming of the 20 metre indoor pool surrounded by fire pits and daybeds and the exquisite Aman signature spa treatments after a hard day pounding the streets of NYC. Then later to enjoy a cocktail in the subterranean Jazz Bar before heading out again into the city that never sleeps!
