As the nights draw in and the sun fades, it’s a great time to travel for those able to drop everything and fly now.

While much of the world is off limits to UK travellers, there are places to go that are (at the time of writing) on the UK Foreign & Commonwealth Office quarantine exemption list. And with some destinations showing extraordinary value, we’ve picked three of our favourites to tempt you out of the UK this autumn.

Venice

There has never been a better time to visit or indeed revisit Venice. Seriously. Those crowds that flock to St Mark’s Square, the hordes of people on the Rialto Bridge? Nowhere to be seen. While certainly not a ghost town, La Serenissima is for perhaps the first time, actually serene. Visitors usually outnumber the locals by two to one, but without the hulking cruise ships offloading their human cargo, the locals have reclaimed their city. Yes, you’ll need to wear face coverings to visit the treasures of this jewel box of a city, but that’s a small price to pay for the relative solitude that you will experience.

The drop in visitor numbers means that hotels are offering incredible value. Stay at the Belmond Hotel Cipriani where the old-fashioned elegance, courtesy, and charm are de rigueur. In between exploring the city, take a lesson with the tennis pro on the clay court, indulge in the Casanova Wellness Centre and dine at Oro, its Michelin starred restaurant. Golfers can even take in a round on the 18-hole course at Circolo Golf Venezia on the Lido.

With flights from Heathrow taking just two hours, Venice is the ideal ‘get away from it all’ city break this autumn. Consider extending your stay in Italy with a few days at either the stunning Belmond Caruso on the Amalfi Coast or the Belmond Castello di Castole in Tuscany.

Turkey

If a cultural city break isn’t your thing and you are in need of some autumn sun, head instead to the beach side luxury of D Maris Bay on the Datça Peninsula, where Aegean Sea meets the Mediterranean. With temperatures in the mid/high twenties, perfect sandy beaches, outdoor activities on and off the water, and the best food and drink options, this is the perfect way to relax and recharge before winter sets in.

Cyprus

Always a firm European favourite with Savile Row Travel clients, Cyprus is the perfect autumn and spring getaway destination. With temperatures in the mid to high twenties on the beaches and cooler weather in the mountains make this much more than the average beach holiday. Take to the road and drive up into the mountains for lunch surrounded by lush forests, or simply hang back poolside, to be waited on hand and foot.

We  love the Anassa just outside Paphos for its Cypriot laid back luxe. A hillside retreat with a picture-perfect beach that will help you to forget all the stresses and strains of 2020. Alternatively, the Columbia Beach Resort at Pissouri is a beautiful option for families of all ages.
