Cheetah Plains comprises of 3 exclusive-use, contemporary bushveld houses. Each jaw-dropping property features a central house with pool, wine room, private kitchen, indoor and outdoor dining area. Each house has 4 individual suites, with a huge super kingsize bed, woodburning stove, wet room with a deep, deep bathtub and slide-away floor to ceiling glass walls.
The architect & designers’ intent was a modern update on indoors/outdoors living and they have absolutely nailed it. Even though the design is unapologetically uber-modern you never lose the feeling that you’re in the middle of the bush.
YOUR STAY
During your stay at Cheetah Plains your days will feature an early start with coffee and snacks before your morning game drive. Cheetah Plains is the first lodge to use electric vehicles in South Africa and enable you to experience your safari in an entirely new way, with no vehicle noise to disturb the sounds of the bush. Guests will also have their own chef, house manager, and spa therapist on tap. One of the houses has a great view over a dam, where the hippos almost feel like part of the furniture.
DINING
On returning to the lodge your chef will prepare brunch, and then you’re at leisure to enjoy your private pool and sundeck, before reconvening for afternoon tea, prior your afternoon safari, during which you’ll stop for the traditional safari sundowners before returning to your African home for dinner and drinks.
Getting There
Fly into Johannesburg and get a short connecting flight to Arathusa airstrip you’ll be met and transferred a short distance by road to Cheetah Plains, Sabi Sand Game Reserve.
