Become a tea expert in Sri Lanka

If you love your tea, Sri Lanka is one of the best places on earth to learn more about it. The country is dotted with tea plantations which offer tours of their facilities and processes. Explore the fields and watch tea leaves being picked, before following their journey through the factory as they are washed, dried, shredded and packed into tea chests.
At the end of the tour, you’ll learn how best to make tea, with loose leaf tea in teapots and tea strainers. Then it’s time for the tasting!
The most popular places to visit tea plantations in Sri Lanka are Kandy, Ella, Haputale, and Nuwara Eliya. Kandy (also known as the ‘Hill Capital’) is on most of our Sri Lankan itineraries as the country’s second-largest city and a UNESCO World Heritage site, particularly famous for the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic.
The Kadugannawa tea factory is just a short drive from Kandy.
