Savile Row Travel

An independent and family-owned oasis in the paradise of Barbados

Located on the platinum west coast of Barbados, Cobblers Cove is a luxury boutique hotel that combines Caribbean style with gracious English country living. Set amongst beautifully landscaped gardens with breathtaking coastal views and an award-winning restaurant, this hotel offers total relaxation, impeccable service and exceptional food. Hugh and his wife, Sam, oversee Cobblers Cove and are closely involved in the ethos and running of the place, while Joanna joined the team in August to lead the exceptional team and ensure the hotel continues to shine and flourish.

As soon as you see the original Great House standing majestically overlooking the sea, you get a sense of the history of this charming property. The pink-washed walls are typical of the era, and the design of the old plantation house is a classic. The open-sided drawing room leading to the bar area is a beautiful place to take tea or simply relax here before a final dip and refreshing shower, so you are ready for a sundowner around the horseshoe-shaped bar.

Please note: Cobbers Cove does not accept children under 12 years except during the festive period (17th December – 7th January)

Suites

The Upper Circle suites are set amidst the tropical gardens, the Royal Circle and Two Bedroom suites are around the Great House, the Ocean Front suites face the Caribbean sea, and the honeymoon suites (Camelot, Colleton) are in the Great House. The newest suite, the very romantic Mile & A Quarter, is set discreetly apart from all other suites, directly overlooking the bay to the south.

Every suite has a private veranda with comfortable rattan chaises, mini bars stocked daily with tea, coffee and milk, a drawing room, an air-conditioned bedroom, and a luxurious bathroom with a powerful walk-in shower. Those who prefer a bathtub should request the following Royal Circle suites: Quintyne, Plumtree, Marley, Oistins, Kingsland or Kirktons, all of which have baths and showers, as do Mile & A Quarter and the Great House honeymoon suites, Colleton & Camelot.

Bar & Dining

Known for its beautiful seafront setting and fresh local ingredients, the Cobblers Cove restaurant serves the finest food in Barbados. Popular with guests and locals alike, they are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner every day. The dress code in the restaurant in the evening is elegant – for men, long trousers are required. For those eating more casually at the bar or around the pool, anything goes.

Breakfast

The breakfast menu at The Restaurant serves everything from fresh local juices and barista-made coffees to fruit smoothies and ‘super shots’ – and that’s just the drinks menu! Whether you’re craving a healthy yoghurt bowl, indulgent cinnamon French toast or a classic Full English, you’ll be satisfied here. Open 7:30 am – 10:00 am. See a sample breakfast menu here.

Lunch

Start with refreshing gazpacho or smoked Mahi Mahi salad, followed by comforting Bajan-spiked macaroni cheese, lobster linguine or a grilled garlic marinated 6oz striploin steak, before finishing it off with something deliciously sweet from the desserts menu. Or, opt for a lighter sandwich or salad and save yourself for dinner! Open 12:30 pm – 2:30 pm. See a sample lunch menu here.

Dinner

Dinner is a delicious affair at The Restaurant. Starters include fresh spinach mousse, lobster bisque and pulled pork tacos. Mains feature authentic coconut curry, glazed duck breast and fried catch of the day, and puddings include Grand Marnier Soufflé, butterscotch banana sundae and a choice of fresh ice creams and sorbets. Open 6:30 pm – 9:00 pm. In the evening, the dress code in the bar and restaurant is casual but elegant. Those wishing to wear shorts are welcome to dine in the more informal outside terrace area. See a sample dinner menu here.

Happy Hour

Every day from 5-6pm (11:30am – 12:20pm on Sundays), enjoy Bajan rum punch, Rum Sour, Cuba Libre, gin or vodka & tonic, Bajan beer, Santa Carolina sauvignon blanc, Antares merlot and all soft drinks.

Location & Activities

Activities

On land, enjoy activities including tennis (coaching also available), pilates, Latin dancing, yoga and personal training in the gym. For something more relaxing, take part in a tour of the surrounding gardens or visit the Sea Moon Beauty Salon. On the water, play around with paddle boards, kayaks, snorkels, flippers and Hobie Cats, go fishing, swim with turtles or head out on water skiing, speed boat, banana boat, or tube rides.

When to visit

The hotel enjoys glorious year-round sunshine, a typical temperature of 28-29 degrees and almost no seasonal variation, so there’s never a bad time to visit. The days are constantly sunny, and the evenings are balmy. The highest rainfall occurs from July to October when the island is at its most lush and luminous, the sea at its clearest and most sparkling. Tropical rainstorms sometimes occur, but hurricanes generally follow land masses and thus usually avoid Barbados, which is 150 miles off the chain of Caribbean islands.

The Environment

Local craftsmen, carpenters, artists, metalworkers and basket makers provide the hotel’s furniture and fittings. They offer locally bottled Eco Sky water, distilled and bottled at the hotel, with zero emissions, from some of the purest air on earth. The luxurious botanical toiletries are produced nearby in St Lucy, and the hotel collects rainwater for gardens and uses solar panels for warm water. They work hard to source as much as possible locally – about 70% of the food on your tables is grown on the island itself – but this does mean they don’t offer long-distance food items such as strawberries, oysters, or salmon. Please also try to help protect this delicate ecosystem by being considerate in your choice of sun tan lotion: reef-friendly ones will protect the reefs and therefore the island itself.
