Boutique camps in the remote wilderness of Botswana's Central Tuli Block

A destination for the experienced guest; this is not only a safari but an immersive adventure on the Limpopo River in a private reserve spanning in excess of 7000 hectares. In exclusive tented camps, of which there are two locations to choose from; Koro River Camp and Koro Island Camp, guests will be living in symbiotic harmony with some of the rarest species of animals and plants. The dedicated team are there to provide a tailored experience for each individual guest.

Koro River Camp is set on the banks of the most beautiful, undisturbed sections of the Limpopo River, featuring seven en-suite boutique tents offering spectacular views of the surrounding wildlife. The canvas tented suites sleep two and are constructed above ground on a wooden deck and consist of a tented bedroom suite with your typical Out of Africa look and feel. You will have a separate bathroom suite with shower and bath, an open air shower and a private plunge pool. The family unit (number 7) can accommodate 6 people, and consists of a master bedroom suite and two separate bedrooms, as well as a separate open air toilet and shower. All units are located on the river and offer spectacular views of the riverine and surrounding wildlife. 220 volt charging points are located in the tents. A tented bar and indoor lounge is the service hub, alongside a shady dining deck and sunken sitting area. You’ll marvel at the panoramic views from your spacious deck, awaiting greetings from elephants, soaking in your private pool, relaxing in a decadent bath or showering outdoors under African skies. Far from the city and the rest of the world, you’ll witness the clearest skies and only the sounds of wild animals. Meals can be prepared in the open air boma and campfire, also an ideal venue for after dinner tales and drinks. Wifi is available at the lounge and viewing deck. A smaller secluded tented chill-out lounge is an inviting space to read or relax, and an open air spa pavilion on the riverbank offers rejuvenating massages and facials. ‘Kgomotso’s Kitchen’, named after the camp’s veteran safari chef is the food factory in camp and produces superb meals; brunches, high teas, and sumptuous three-course dinners of distinction. A curio store completes the layout.

Koro Island Camp is situated on an island in the Limpopo River and accessible only via a suspension bridge for explorer-orientated travellers. Here, one feels close to the old ancient landscape, the flora and fauna, and the fresh breeze of the Limpopo River. A more sociable camp, its central living area is an intimate thatched lounge and dining room designed for socialising, dining, reading or just lounging on one of the day beds and watching the river and wildlife go by. Right beside the river is a large open fire pit for cooking traditional African braais. Each of the four Meru tents, dotted around the tiny island, has magnificent river views giving guests the chance to watch all the game and abundant birdlife from your own deck, completely immersed in the environment. Furnished with comfortable beds, tables and clothes hangers, the tents are spacious and inviting, and each consists of a traditional open air bathroom out back, complete with bathtubs … simple elegance! A visit to the Massage pavilion at Koro River Camp for some pampering can also be arranged. The camp is a perfect base for small private groups of safari enthusiasts, with self or fully catered options available.
