Savile Row Travel

Located in the most famous bay of Portugal, a few minutes from Lisbon and Sintra, the five-star Farol Hotel dominates the coastline and offers breath-taking 180-degree views of the legendary seafaring ocean. Its close neighbour, a pretty white and blue lighthouse, welcomed the ship of Christopher Columbus on his return from his first expedition to America.

As a resort hotel, this aristocratic mansion, now remodelled and extended, has grown to become a boutique hotel with 33
rooms and suites set amidst a tropical garden full of cacti and coconut trees, overlooking a beautiful pool, with only the sea
stretching to the horizon.

Accommodation

The Hotel offers a total of 4 Junior Suites, 8 superior Double Design Rooms, 10 Double rooms with sea view and 11 Standard Double rooms with garden view.

Junior Suites

The four Farol Junior Suites are designed as intimate retreats with unique personalities. They feature glorious ocean views and offer either private balconies or glass fronts that open to sensational 180-degree panoramas of the Atlantic.

Designer Rooms

Renowned Portuguese and international fashion designers have individually created the décor of each of these eight rooms. The four Designer Suites each have a balcony, a terrace or breath-taking sea views. One of them even offers a whirlpool for two, hidden in an alcove.

Sea-View Rooms

Our favourite, these delightful rooms host original and individual styling and present a personal haven with wondrous views out to sea.

Garden-View Rooms

The alternate view overlooks pictures Cascais with its delightful Mediterranean villas set amidst sunny gardens of palms and lush plantings. Several of these cozy rooms feature a private balcony or a nice window.

Among the rooms with sea or garden views, guests particularly savour the attic rooms on the top floor for their artist studio-like
touch and the ground floor ones whose French doors open onto a grass square with two armchairs or onto a promontory
overlooking the sea, perfect for an intimate breakfast for two.

The recipe of lounge tunes, refined surroundings and stunning views can be enjoyed equally during daytime, sunset or evening.

Bar on the Rocks

Located beside the saltwater swimming pool with an incredible ocean-view backdrop, the Bar on the Rocks serves snacks and drinks until evening’s end. For some summertime magic, lounge by the swimming pool listening to tropical and contemporary tunes while indulging in your favourite cocktail; the bar offers the most spectacular ambience nature has to offer with Atlantic waves which form a graceful line-dance.

Wonders to Explore Nearby

The Farol Hotel is the perfect base to explore the whole region around Lisbon. Brought into vogue by the royal family at the time of the first sea baths, Cascais, with its fishing harbour, 17th century fortress, secret alleys through the old town and lively terraces on the Praça de Camões, is largely considered as the ‘Portuguese Saint Tropez’.

Cascais

A few minutes’ walk to the city centre, Cascais features the traditional vibrant nightlife of a colourful seaside resort. There is
a great selection of bars and clubs in the city centre or by the sea; the only dilemma is choosing where to go! The Estoril Casino is a great place for a glamorous evening Las Vegas style!

Sintra

Sintra, a UNESCO World Heritage site that has always been a place of inspiration for artists including Lord Byron, is alos only 18km away. Sintra remains the symbol of romantic 19th century architecture, suspended at the top of the mountain and surrounded by authentic mysterious forests. The city is known as the “Nose of Europe” and what a nose with such a character! Sintra can be accessed by the “quintas road,” punctuated by “Retiros”, some luxurious properties where Portuguese aristocrats used to retire, a twisting road dominated by the magical and extravagant Pena Palace, built by King Fernando II. Other surprises await you: the Palace of Sintra and its colossal chimney, the Castle of the Moors with intact walls, the Quinta da Regaleira – a prodigious Baroque architecture that brings together the symbols of Catholicism, the Templar order and the Freemasons under the same roof.

Lisbon

Twenty minutes drive away and 35 minutes by train, Lisbon “the city of the seven hills” deserves special attention. The legendary yellow tram No. 28 is the best way to discover the city and take a journey back in time. Be a tourist and take a personal snapshot in front of the legendary Belém Tower or the famous caravel of the Monument to the Discoveries, visit Jerónimos Monastery, walk through the streets of the old quarters of Alfama or the modern areas of the Parque das Nações. But most of all take the time to walk along the Tagus, to settle inside the very famous café Belém and late at night (very late) listen to some FADO and enjoy an exquisite moment of “saudade”, the characteristic Portuguese nostalgia.

Hotel Facilities & Activities

Farol Hotel is a hub for numerous relaxing or adrenaline-filled activities for all the family.

Take a swim in the sea water swimming pool or absorb the calming effect of the ocean with a relaxing meditation or yoga class by the pool or on the deck of the rocks, with support from a professional coach. Discover the fascinating heritage of the natural, flat terrain around Cascais and Sintra with a delightful cycling tour with advise from the concierge on route suggestions and rentals. For the animal-lovers, take an exhilarating speedboat ride to the dolphin-watching area off the Cascais coast and wonder at magnificent city views above pods of bottle-nose dolphins in their natural habitat. Like many visitors to Portugal, they are very fond of the local sardines!

Play tennis or padel tennis, give horseback riding a go, try your hand at golf or hop on an exciting fishing trip – anything is possible at Farol.
