An oasis of refined luxury in the centre of Lisbon ...

Located in the heart of Lisbon’s stylish Príncipe Real and with a large garden, heated swimming pool, and yoga rooms the Palácio Príncipe Real is truly an oasis of refined luxury. Built-in 1877, Palácio Príncipe Real was a cherished, elegant family home. Loved and enjoyed by the Lisbon Teixeira da Mota family, the parties hosted there are still well remembered by Lisbon society.

Respecting the floor plan of the 19th-century palace, the hotel features 26 rooms, each decorated in a ‘pared-down palatial’ style. All of the bedrooms give guests a flavour of times gone by when life was lived at a slower pace and afternoon tea was enjoyed in the drawing-room or garden.

Rooms & Gardens

Each bedroom comes with a SMEG fridge filled with little treats. Breakfast is served to your room, on the terrace or even by the pool. Lisbon is blessed with its climate and, even in February, sit out in the sunshine with your freshly ground coffee.

All the rooms are different, some with showers, others with freestanding bath tubs. Some have terraces and some balconies but all have a view over the wonderful gardens. Beds are clad in crisp cottons, bathrooms in local limestone come with heated floors and Byredo amenities. There are Nespresso machines, scented candles to illuminate your bath time and complimentary mini bars with health shots and fresh milk for your morning coffee.

The “jewel in the crown” at Palacio Principe Real is the huge terrace and garden divided into traditional Portuguese calçada and an emerald green lawn which extends beyond the terrace leading to an Asian style infinity pool.

Restaurant & Bar

The emphasis is on simple food beautifully served, drawing on the best ingredients that Portugal has to offer. From from the smoked hams of the Alentejo to the local cheeses and the freshest catch of the day from the market. Breakfast is à la carte with options such as avocado toast and poached eggs, and on a sunny day served in the garden accompanied by bold bird song.

Alternatively, if you are feeling adventurous the concierge staff will organise dinner at one of Lisbon´s ever-increasing number of popular, happening restaurants, and you can stroll back home for a nightcap in the bar or the garden.

The cosy Duck Bar opens out into the terrace on sunny days but should the weather be less glorious, sit by the fire and sip a signature cocktail, try the wide range of Portuguese wines of simply indulge in a coffee with a delicious Pastéis de Nata.
