Just like having your very own private island
Just 10 individual bandas are hidden amongst the trees across this stunning island offering privacy, luxury and seclusion. Mnemba is the very epitome of toes-in-the-sand luxury.
From snorkelling, swimming and kayaking, to massages on the beach, to doing nothing at all, Mnemba has something for everyone.
With so few private guest bandas on the entire island, the only unwelcome intrusion you might expect could be from a curious suni antelope or two at sundown. The balmy blue waters invite you to explore the surrounding Indian Ocean and with a dive school and two dive boats for so few guests, you will never feel crowded during your underwater adventure.
Sea breezes waft through high palm-frond roofs and large windows in the beachside bandas. Overhead fans cool down the warm tropical nights in the spacious bedrooms, filled with soft, natural fabrics and traditional woodcarvings. A shady corridor of woven palm leads to a large shuttered bathroom, where a massive stone shower awaits your arrival behind a beaded glass curtain.
Open thatched dining and sitting areas provide the perfect opportunity to watch the glorious sunset. Deep pillows and low wooden tables open up onto majestic views of the white beach. Enjoy lunch served on large, wooden carved platters, while island crabs scuttle across the sand. Later, when the twinkling stars in the magnificent African sky illuminate the night, dinner is served on the beach.
The coral reefs surrounding Mnemba Island are home to a vast variety of reef fish, anemones and other marine specimens, while diverse pelagic fish and marine mammals thrive in the warm waters of the Indian Ocean. Humpback whales, as well as many species of dolphin, shark and ray can all be found here.
