A brand new and very elegant 5* hotel in downtown Bangkok opens its doors in August 2018 with stunning views and superb Waldorf service
The Waldorf Astoria Bangkok opens its doors in August 2018 and guests can expect a sublime welcome and exemplary levels of Waldorf service. With wonderful views of downtown Bangkok, a contemporary interior, some of the largest rooms in downtown Bangkok and plenty of dining options, this is one hotel opening we are sure will be very popular indeed.
Designed by architect André Fu the hotel has extra high ceilings and interiors which blend traditional Thai elements with a contemporary twist. Rooms feature floor-to-ceiling windows and all the amenities you would expect of a 5* hotel of this calibre.
Diners will be spoilt for choice with six restaurants catering for fine dining, a light breakfast and everything in between. As you would expect, room service is available 24/7 and the restaurants surrounding the hotel offer still more choice. The hotel’s signature Peacock Alley bar is on the 15th floor, one floor below the hotel’s stunning outdoor infinity pool.
Located mere steps from the Bangkok elevated train system for convenience, the hotel is still within minutes of a number of shopping precincts and tourist attractions. It occupies the first sixteen levels of its block with a champagne bar perfectly located on floor 57 and a superb steakhouse on floor 55.
The hotel offers a selection of 171 rooms and suites set inside a 60-storey multi-use complex (most of which will be private residences) with rooms starting from 50sqm and all featuring marble bathrooms with a separate bath and shower.
King Deluxe rooms are 50sqm in size and have floor-to-ceiling windows to maximise the superb views, a king-sized bed, marble bathroom with separate bath and shower, walk-in wardrobe, bar, espresso machine and safe. These rooms are also available at a higher level of the hotel for those with a head for heights and twin rooms are also available.
The One Bedroom Astoria Suite has a separate living room, study and powder room plus a dining table for four, spread over 100sqm. Together with floor-to-ceiling windows and a king-sized bed, this is the perfect suite for those who appreciate a little more living space.
A Two Bedroom Waldorf Suite offers 150sqm of living space and has a separate living room, dining table for six, study, powder room and two bedrooms. It does of course include luxury bathing products, a walk-in wardrobe, personal bar, espresso machine and safe.
The Two Bedroom Royal Suite has two bedrooms, a kitchen, dining space for eight, a screening/audio room, study and guest bathroom, all spread out over 300sqm of beautifully designed space.
Dining options are excellent and include the Front Room which offers a blend of Thai and Nordic cuisine using locally sourced Thai ingredients combined with Nordic cooking techniques, guaranteed to be a talking point. The Brasserie serves French-inspired brasserie-style dishes whilst the Waldorf’s signature Peacock Alley is the perfect location for afternoon tea and a glass of champagne or cocktail.
For grilled meats and seafoods we recommend the Bull & Bear which has a raw bar and incredible grill which can cook meat in a variety of delicious ways. The Loft is a New York-inspired bar which offers drinks in a really exotic and glamorous location, whilst the Champagne Bar on the 57th floor is the ideal venue for a glass of something chilled overlooking downtown Bangkok.
Pamper your mind and body at the hotel’s beautiful spa, which boasts private treatment rooms for both individuals and couples. Swim laps in the outdoor infinity-edge pool or enjoy a workout in the 16th-level fitness centre as the city bustles beneath your feet.
