Malaysia is wonderfully diverse: from rural villages and tea plantations to bustling cities like Kuala Lumpur, you will find fabulous beaches and tropical rainforests teeming with wildlife, and many activities and excursions available. There’s a mixture of Hindu temples, Buddhist statues, colonial architecture together with rolling hills covered in tea plantations, and private secluded beach hideaways.
Climate and when to go
Malaysia has a tropical climate but your weather depends on when and where you visit. Kuala Lumpur is warm all year round and driest in the summer months of June to August. The beach resort of Penang featured in this tour is best visited from December to April but regardless of when you go, showers tend to be intense yet brief so rain shouldn’t stop you enjoying your visit.
Top destinations
From small beginnings, Kuala Lumpur has become a major city and transport hub, teeming with skyscrapers and fabulous shopping malls, which has managed to retain the charm of the old alongside the sparkling new. Streets are clean and well maintained and feel safe so you can relax and explore. The Cameron Highlands are breathtakingly beautiful with sweeping tea plantations and great views whilst the island of Penang is full of Hindu temples, Buddhist statues and reminders of colonial times. It’s perfectly located for brilliant seafood, traditional local restaurants and food markets.
