A stunning tour of some of the finest wildlife-watching areas in Africa

Experience the watery wonderland of the Okavango Delta in Botswana, elephants and big game in Chobe National Park and the splendour of Victoria Falls from the Zambian side on our Zambia and Botswana safari.

Encounter vast herds of elephant and buffalo along the river banks at Chobe and lose yourself among a network of channels and lagoons flanked by lush islands in the Okavango Delta. Most visitors to Botswana rate the Okavango Delta as the highlight of their trip and it is not hard to see why.

Chobe National Park is located in Botswana’s North West District, with the Chobe River forming the Park’s northern border. It is flanked in the south west by the Okavango Delta and Moremi Game Reserve, and by the Chobe forest, which runs parallel to the Zimbabwe border in the east. Elephant abound here together with a magnificent array of wildlife.

Experience Zambia in colonial luxury with majestic views of Victoria Falls at the Royal Livingstone Hotel, set on the banks of the Zambezi River. From here you can explore the surrounding area by boat, by rail, in the air or by 4×4 to really maximise your enjoyment.

Itinerary in brief

Tour Itinerary

Day 1 – Depart UK

Depart UK and fly to Maun International Airport in Botswana, via Johannesburg to begin your Zambia and Botswana Safari tour.

Day 2 – Arrive Maun and transfer to Belmond Eagle Island Camp (Botswana)

On arrival transfer to the airstrip for your scheduled charter flight to the Belmond Eagle Island Camp which takes approximately 20-30 minutes. Nestled in Botswana’s lush Okavango Delta (a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the world’s largest inland water systems), the Eagle Island Camp has undergone total refurbishment whilst still retaining its original features and feel. Each deluxe tented room has its own plunge pool and private deck overlooking the stunning scenery.

No other lodge in Africa offers such a water-focused safari experience with activities including motorboat safaris, barge cruises and mekoro (local canoe) safaris. Overnight at Belmond Eagle Island Camp.

Day 3 – Belmond Eagle Island Camp (Botswana)

This Botswana tour includes two escorted game drives per day which take place first thing in the morning and late afternoon when animals are at watering holes. The Okavango Delta supports large concentrations of animals on both a permanent and seasonal basis. In addition to large animals such as bush elephant, buffalo, hippo, wildebeest, giraffe, crocodile, lion, leopard, cheetah, rhino and zebra, there are over 400 species of birds and 71 recorded species of fish.

The camp offers additional excursions such as a scenic helicopter sightseeing tour over the Delta, a mekoro safari or a fishing trip. Overnight at Belmond Eagle Island Camp.

Day 4 – Belmond Eagle Island Camp (Botswana)

In addition to the escorted game drives, indulge in a bush picnic, a traditional cooking demonstration, a specialist walking safari (trees, birds, wildlife, etc), star gazing or listen to storytelling around the camp fire. Overnight at Belmond Eagle Island Camp.

Day 5 – Transfer to Belmond Savute Elephant Lodge (Chobe National Park, Botswana)

Leave Eagle Island Camp this morning and board a scheduled charter flight to Savute Elephant Lodge which takes approximately 60 minutes. Situated at the very heart of a wildlife reserve, Belmond Savute Elephant Lodge is authentic and truly wild: the perfect place to feel the pulse of Botswana. This lodge has just twelve luxurious rooms raised on wooden platforms with private decks that are perfect for game viewing.

Savute is famous for the herds of elephant that can be spotted roaming the plains but other large animals also gather here to drink. Chobe National Park has an impressive 4,150 square miles of wilderness and a very varied environment resulting in a magnificent array of wildlife, particularly its elephant and buffalo populations. Overnight at Belmond Savute Lodge.

Day 6 – Belmond Savute Elephant Lodge (Botswana)

Enjoy two guided game drives today, one first thing in the morning and one late afternoon. The grounds of the lodge are open to wildlife so you will be escorted by a guide between your tent and the main area at night. We recommend enjoying the spectacle of elephants drinking from the easy chairs or hammocks on your private deck. Overnight at Belmond Savute Lodge.

Day 7 – Fly to Kasane then cross border into Zambia

Leave Savute this morning and transfer to the airstrip for your flight to Kasane. The flight takes approximately 40 minutes. Upon arrival you will be met and transferred to the Zambian border, a journey which takes approximately one hour, then driven to the Royal Livingstone Hotel for the final stay of your Zambia & Botswana Safari. Located on the banks of the Zambezi River, the hotel evokes Victorian elegance and colonial traditions with impeccable style. All rooms feature a private veranda with views of the mighty Zambezi River. Overnight at Royal Livingstone Hotel.

Day 8 – Royal Livingstone Hotel (Zambia)

Today offers an incredible choice of adventures. The Big Five can be spotted on a river cruise or by 4×4. The rapids of Batoka Gorge offer adrenalin-pumping thrills. The Royal Livingstone Express steam locomotive invites you to travel in vintage style along one of Southern Africa’s most scenic railway passes. Enjoy the privilege of complimentary access to Victoria Falls via the hotel’s private entrance. Overnight at Royal Livingstone Hotel.

Day 9 – Royal Livingstone Hotel (Zambia)
