Learn to cook truly authentic Thai food in Thailand

Thailand, an exotic oasis known for its tropical beaches, opulent royal palaces, ancient ruins and ornate temples, is the home of one of our favourite cuisines. And what better souvenir to bring home than the ever-lasting skills to recreate these dishes in exactly the same way as the locals do?!
With direct flights from London to Bangkok, you’ll be wandering around this buzzing city in no time. Spend a few nights in the capital, exploring the city and its magnificent temples, bazaars and scenery. Visit the Royal Grand Palace, the nation’s landmark and most praised royal monument in Thailand and Wat Pho, with its beautiful mural paintings, inscriptions and statues. Relax into a quick Thai massage, before hopping on a river boat along the Chao Phya River to the Temple of Dawn and the flower and vegetable market.
Head out to experience some of the largest floating markets just outside of the city (well worth the short journey) and snap iconic photos from the bridge above the canal. The market is bustling with activity from very early morning until about 11am, where you can shop for souvenirs, indulge in fresh fruit, or simply take in the energy of it all.
Back in Bangkok, take a food tour of the city! Hop on the local ferry to sample local dishes from restaurants, cafes and street vendors or try your hand in a local cooking class…
Books and videos can only get you so far. If you want to cook like a local, you need to learn from a local. Cooking classes are dotted all over the city, but the best ones are held in small groups with guides who take you out to the market to choose your own fresh ingredients. Learn about Thai rice, herbs and spices while you prepare four or five authentic dishes in a hands-on class. Dishes may include traditional pad Thai noodles, red or green Thai curry, spicy lemongrass salad, deep fried spring rolls and mango sticky rice. Just make sure you go with an empty stomach because you won’t want to miss out on any of these creations!
If you want to extend your Thai holiday, head out of the city and fly to Phuket, Krabi or Koh Samui to experience the glorious Thai beaches and beautiful blue-green waters.
